Poem #17 – Poet

Poet,
What is a poet,
Do they know it?,
Do they show it?,
Do they rhyme all the time,
Do they free verse a lyrically diverse stanza?,
Is a poet romantic,
Or are they slamming,
Jammin out word and after word in absolutely powerful verse,
Spoken aloud,
To a crowd uncertain of the vocabulary highs they will endure next,
An emotional purge,
Does a poet know what they write,
rightly yes,
And writely no,
Woe is the heart of a writer,
So full of promise and wishful thinking,
Yet the poets heart is solar,
Its holier and full of scars,
But touched upon surronded by shimmering stars,
Lighting the way forward through the blinding dark,
Hitting demons with the tap of a keyboard or scratch of a frantic pen,
Men hath feared worst things,
But the poet fears none and all,
The poet brings change,
The poet brings all,
A new perspective,
For one and all,

Do they show it?,
Do they know it?,
Poet.
