Poem #26 – Home

Home,

Home is a safe place to be,
Warm,
Sheltered and secure,
A bed to lay my tired body,
Feeling safe to sleep,

But what if your house doesn’t feel like home,
Because you’re alone,
With empty rooms and things,
Things that do not love,
That do not comfort,
That do no sway any emotion,
You just wander it aimlessly going through the motions,

What if your home isn’t a place,
It’s a person,

For me there’s no other,
To love,
To trust,
To care for,
To be with in life,
To rest my sleepy head beside,

Only him,
And him alone makes me feel like I’m at home.
